One of the more forgotten Belmont Stakes Races. I remember I didn't think Commendable had a chance in hell to win this race but when he got away with the early slow fractions that allowed him to have plenty for the end. Hugh Hefner could not rate on the pace and was put away. Pat Day and D. Wayne win another.

Agreed. It is peculiar why they didn't press more. 2:31 1/5 for a final time is pedestrian.
