Chris Hayes left the band at the end of 1999 to spend more time with his family, he now plays gigs with some artists in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Stef Burns took his place in the Band and is now the lead guitarist... As you can see and hear, he's very talented and the right guy for the News!

In high school I was a big Huey lewis fan.Then in 1987 when I was a junior I got into the Beatles when I listened to the Sgt. Peppers album for the first time. After That I still liked Huey but my tastes in music had started to change to more classic rock and more heavy guitar oriented music. I saw Huey a few times in concert and he puts on a hell of a show. The News are very talented musicians and a very tight band

chris hayes has more feeling than stef in his playing? I would bet $1000 that you are not a musician. chris hayes never did a stand out guitar solo with the feeling stef has. Wow.

The song with Chris Hayes on guitar is much better. he plays with much more feeling and emotion. it does not matter how fast you play its the end result. Alot of bands have better guitarists than Keith Richards & George Harrison but it does not matter because its how your style fits the song. Stef is boring on stage compared to Chris who had alot of energy.
