I am Roger King Mozian's brother. This was his first hit. This version is not on any album that I know of.....with the exception (maybe) of a 10 inch long-playing album by CLEF records. Mitch Miller plays the oboe solo on this recording. I have that album somewhere and I'll check it out.
does any one know which album this version is on I like the fast version this one, not the version thats on the album asia minor, I would appreciate any ones help my parents had it but they had a flood in thier basement and I lost the album dont remember which one its on.
I remember that Mitch Miller (yes) played oboe on Desert Dance playing a melody in makam hicaz (like Juan Tizol's Caravan) . Version I have has no oboe but this one does. I wonder if Mitch played on this version or if you know. The oboe's timbre is similar to the various Middle Eastern reeds and is evocative of the music of Asia Minor.
There"s a good version by Marko Melkon, an ud player and the father in law of the
composer Roger "King" Mozian. All Machito versions of this great.
