All of the companies, Lehman (which did,) Goldman, AIG, GM, Chrysler, all of the banks in crisis, all of them should have never been bailed out and allowed to go bankrupt. The government never should have forcibly recapitalized any institution. The pain would have been great, but the economy would be better off today without the tremendous cost to the taxpayer that we have seen. How do you avoid bailouts? Don't do bailouts. Let the companies go down. That is how you weed out the losers.
