I also own this title. And actually it was developed by Factor 5 who were known for years to push both graphics and sound on whatever console they were developing on. This game is no exception. It's visuals, music and gameplay are astonishing on the Genesis. It's definitely in my top 5 all-time favorite Genesis titles.

The first turrican was also on the genesis/megadrive but mega turrican was far better as it was developed by data east not ballistic. when i was a kid i just loved the music and the noise those little walking chicken things made when you jumped on them! good review dude!

yeah I played the first turrican before. very frustrating, it's a commodore64 port apparently.
