I know Sofia Coppola was poor but remember she wasn't the first choice to play the role by Coppola, Winona Ryder was. The incest storyline was a bit weird, and all in all it didn't have the quality of the earlier films, but how can you follow up on two perfect films? Particularly when all but about 4 characters (Michael, Kate, Al Neri and Connie) had left or been killed off.

I don't really understand why people bag Part III so much, I'll admit it wasn't as good as the first two but I do think it gives a better ending than Part II does... see Part II the way it ended conveyed to the audience a sense that crime does pay, and if you're rich and powerful enough you will never have to answer to justice. This is continued in the third film but Michael does pay for his sins, not by jail time but by the death of his daughter, perhaps the thing he cared most about.
