"And we wanted to make sure she was hot." Sums up every female character, thanks for being honest BioWare!

I liked Aveline, too, and I appreciate it when not all women look like top models in a game. Realistic variations are great, but with the way BW handles things it's possible that any future versions of Aveline may be slightly reconstructed the way that Isabela and others from DA:O were... though some facial do-overs (Zevran) were not improvements. Anyway, concerning character looks, while I love eye candy, I do prefer a variety of character body and face types. Hopefully Aveline won't change.

I actually liked Aveline's look... She had very strong features, and I thought it was really refreshing to see a woman who truly looked the role of a tough warrior. Female leads don't have to be the stereotypical 'petite and pretty' all the time. Making ALL of the women unrealistically beautiful kinda ruins it for me. I appreciate a lovely woman as much as the next person, but making their appearance conform to the modern mainstream standard of beauty is a little offputting, in my humble opinion

DA2 Flemeth? You can't call her anything but hot. Izzy got a major "hotness" makeover as well. Merrill certainly appeals to a chunk of the fanbase, and Tallis is modeled after the idolized Felicia Day. Considering the design differences and capabilities from DA:O to DA2, it's clear that they do consider hotness to be a major factor for all characters. Aveline may be the exception because of her chin, which I bet will be "upgraded" eventually. Thankfully, we have sexy men to balance it out.

Well, whatever floats your boat. I thought it was rather badly done, but maybe I'm just not in tune with that style of story.

Hmm, I haven't even noticed if I get rivalry when turning him down there or not, since I normally try to get a lot of rivarly with him anyway... You're probably right thuogh.

Right, and of course I've played through DA2 far more than DA:O. :)

I've heard people say taht Anders is too forward if you're male before, but I've never actually seen that. For me he's always just said something about making me uncomfortable, and then I shoot him down and that's all there's to it. I can't say I would really mind there being more agressively homosexual characters in games, since there are often agressively heterosexual ones, but Anders is too much of a douchebag to consider.

Similarly, you can change the characters of KotOR II much more through your own actions than you can change the ones from KoTOR, yet I don't think the characters of the sequel are more interesting overall. Anyway, as you say, it's very difficult to make a proper argument within the 500 character limit.
