I saw this production.I don t like it at all.The Carsen s in Met is best ever.Can t be better.And btw.I think,this is not Monogarova.She was thinner in that time.

Agreed that the gun business is overwrought and there were a couple of other aspects that were strange but on the whole, the production worked rather well and the singing marvelous.

Oh isn't she exquisite?
I loved her in Kitezh and Kaschey last year (both by R-Korsakov) and cannot understand why CEERTAIN OTHER RUSSIAN SOPRANOS get all the headlines as Ms Monogarova is in a different league

Brilliant singing. But the production.....Eurotrash at its worst. The whole overdone thing with the pistol came across as comical, it was so overdone!
