Films like Virtigo never age because they are deeply personal films that span time and culture, feelings of love loss and betrayal are ageless.

God, Herrman was brilliant! Ive recently watched some of his collaborations with hitchcock and IMO those movies own more than half of its fame to herrmann's contribution. In fact other than herrmann's brilliance the directing and polts themselves havent aged that well, but the music still sounds modern and fascinating

I agree that the scores were hugely important to Hitchcock's films, but if you seriously think the direction hasn't aged well then you don't know shit about direction. Vertigo, Psycho and Rear Window remain three of the most brilliantly executed films of all time in terms of both writing and direction and I don't think that's even up for debate.

@Kagemusha08

everything is up for debate when it comes to art, unless you're a fanatic and you're unwilling to listen to the other part,. I agree that those three films still remain good or very good films depending on which one we're talking about. I disagree that they maintain the same kind of impact they had back at the time. I recently watched a good part of hitchcock's american films and a few from his british era, and I think his british films have aged better.

You sound like a very rational person. Finally someone realizes that not everything is just set but up for debate. I like that. A very open mind.
