@drmacdog...Exactly what I was thinking. He's got the form over the other Euro horses. Very Might & Power in the way he races. Only questions will be whether the pace of the Cup is too much for him, but I think he's every chance.
melbourne cup eve 3:30am australian time this horse reminds me of the great might and power who might just break their hearts im getting on now at $15 I think he'll kick on the turn 2 in front at the 400 beat off chalengers at 200 back markers closing fast but hopfully holding on.....please...please...please
I was a little surprised to find out Duncan had been retired after dead-heating with Jukebox Jury for the win in the Irish St. Leger. I thought they might let Duncan continue to race out the rest of the 2011 season, and take a shot at the new Long Distance Cup race at Ascot on Champion's Day. Duncan looked good in his Yorkshire Cup win, and ran a really good race in the Lonsdale Cup to finish 2nd behind Opinion Poll. One could arguably say 2011's been his best season? IMO.
I think the that grueling 2-1/2 mile Ascot Gold Cup win took a lot more out of Fame and Glory than anyone really knew or suspected? At his best, I don't believe Fictional Account would've beaten him in the St.Leger Trial at Leopardstown, and I'm positive he would've never been beaten some 20+ length's in the Irish St. Leger if he hadn't been a very tired horse that day. Definitely time for a break for Fame and Glory, and I can't say I'll be surprised if Coolmore retires him to stud now? JMO.
