Great demo.
The Ad-Lib's Yamaha OPL2 sounds okay, but the Roland MT-32 definitely adds a whole new dimension to the game's immersion.
Indeed, a great many games, particularly ones from Sierra, made great use of this device. And it's nice that this device is supported on software such as ScummVM.
It's just too bad that it can be pricey to find a working MT-32 or an LAPC-1 and that this system cannot be accurately emulated.

@Dilandau3000 I'll look forward to it! I have played all these games before, and there are other LP's of them on YouTube, but you have the best commentary and insights IMHO. Unless you can tell by my frequent comments, I have become quite addicted to your channel.

I so miss that distictive Sierra EGA look. :P

Still to this day this is one of my favorite Sierra Games from the late 80's. The mix of puzzles and actual crime solving haven't been matched. Even the sequel the Dagger of Amon Ra wasn't as good as the its predecessor. Sad really that they never made a third one.

I wish I could play The Colonel's Bequest with the sound like this on Dosbox without having to get a MT-32. My budget just doesn't allow for expensive synthetizers. :(

@1music4all I found one on ebay :) They are out there, and the newer revisions are MT-32 compatible.
Will you ever do an LP of this amazing game?

@WhisperDeeply It's likely that I will, at some point. No idea when, though.
