7 day single handed sail from New York City to Bermuda aboard sailboat 'Paragon' (Westsail 42.) Encountered a 52 foot steel sailboat in distress with two aboard and towed them for 3 days and 150 miles towards Bermuda before we collided badly.

  • Hello Cecilia! I'm really happy to hear from previous owners of Paragon! I bought her from that British couple in North Carolina in 2007. I just sent you an email through youtube with my contact info. Please let me know that you received it.. Cheers!

  • Your story in SSCA talks about a romantic part of your experiance, Can you tell me more?

Hi Gary, That whole experience, and the damage to Paragon was such a devastating nightmare... But today I'm so thankful... At the time I had no idea, but if it wasn't for the collision then I never would have sailed back to North Carolina for repairs. And then I might never have met the most wonderful woman in the world. Monique and I are planning to push off from NC in October, headed to Bermuda again...

  • Good vidio. Cha Cha really takes a prize. I'm glad that there are people like you out there. We're going back to sea after 30 years ashore, We have vidios on You Tube too. Search Gary Cramer Sailing

Thanks Gary. Welcome back to life aboard!! I really enjoyed watching your videos. Look forward to seeing more and hope to see you guys in the anchorage so

    meday.

  • What year and style is the boat

  • @36wetpaint

Hi 36wetpaint. My boat is a 1976 Westsail 42. She's a center cockpit, cutter rig, full keel, relatively heavy boat with an 85hp Perkins 4-236 diesel. I think they made around 80 of the 42's and also around 1000 of the more well known Westsail 32's. There are westsail websites with tons of great info on these wonderful offshore cruising boats. Just google for "westsail." Happy Sailing!

  • Hi Drake

I received your email and sent you one as well. :-)

  • Hello

I hope you recieve this. My husband and I owned Paragon from1991 to 2005. We sold her in Florida to a british couple. We also lived and cruised on her. I would like to hear from you.

    Cecilia

  • Really enjoyed the video. Enjoy the freedom. As this video is 2 years old I guess a lot has happened during your cruise, but I am glad to hear your ok, and Irene left you alone. Enjoy your time on the water.

  • Monique sounds like she is an adventurous gal. When we first went to sea, we pulled our three kids out of school and moved aboard Stampeder VI with our dog and cat. My wife Roslyn mustered up her courage to follow me to sea and as it turned out, she was my most valuable crew. We were out for three years before our bank insisted that I come back. This time we will be retired and it'll just be the two of us. We needed a boat that could be handled by just the two of us. The 42' Lagoon will do
