The Police - Spirits In The Material World drum cover. My opening bass drum note should have been left out and instead to the cue from Stewart's opening fill to establish the tempo. Man a lot of these songs I picked to cover start with the drums and there isn't any 2 bar click intros to work with.

  • Great job on this killer Police tune! Lol regarding your notes about the pick ups, (Or lack of.) at the beginning of these songs! I usually end up watching the computer monitor and trying to time the beginning with the scroll bar as it moves across the audio track in my mixing software. I guess I'm just too lazy to go in and add a click to the beginning of each song.

Once again, nice job and I really like the choice of songs you're covering.

  • @FunkinItUpaBit Yes, exactly, I've watched the computer too. Since this cover I've learned to put in a click at the beginning, so it's gotten a bit better. Thanks for watching and your encouragement especially from a good drummer and fellow edrummer at that. I subbed, I like your influences and song selections. Listening to your cover of "It's Too Late", I covered that one too.

  • Nice... Please, could you do Carlton Barrett drums on Bob Marley's "The Heathen"?

  • @surfpac Thank you, sorry, but I don't take requests especially those songs that I have never heard.

  • @rhythmantic No problem, thanks anyway. If you get a chance you can listen to the live version of "The Heathen" and you can see why this guy is one of the best reggae drummer. I'm sure Stewart Copeland is/was a fan of Carlton Barrett.

  • @surfpac I'm familiar with Carlton's drumming having first heard him and The Wailers back in 1973 or so. BTW: Stewart claims that reggae music is not one of his influences. He was raised in the Middle East and the music of that area was an influence on him as well as Mitch Mitchell's drumming.

  • @rhythmantic I see. Yes, I read that Copeland had middle eastern influences having spent some time in Egypt and Lebanon. Thanks for correcting me in assuming reggae style drumming was an influence. Mitch Mitchell, one of the best no doubt. Keep up the good work man, funny I don't even play drums but guitar rather.

  • @lema0710 Yes, I want to cover that Police tune.

  • @rhythmantic how are you , my only petition its you must play the songs , Don´t stand so close to me by the police,, or Hold me by fletwood mac, thanks aniway and,..i will send to you a great hold

  • @lema0710 Thanks, appreciate that, I studied Stewart's drumming very closely as it is so unique I wanted to do it right.
