The Arapuca is a common live trap used to catch birds in Brazil. It can be made without tools but a sharp knife speeds up the process.

The birds shown in this video are DOMESTIC quail. Quail are sold in Brazil for about $1 and are raised for egg production and for their meat. These are not wild birds that had been caught.

Most of my survival students have never had the opportunity to process their own wild game and as hunting is banned in Brazil this is the only legal way to give them hands on experience in dealing with game in a survival situation.

I amazed at some of the comments I get over this. I live in a city of 5.3 million people where the POULTRY INDUSTRY is alive and well. Bottom line people eat birds, this is what it looks like. They are not produced in shrink wrap at a factory.

  • @Colhane Good. Glad to hear it. Good video BTW. Please except my apologies for my rude comment.

  • @TheHortond No problem. For some reason this video seems to be a lightening rod for all kinds of off the wall comments from everyone from anti-poultry activists to eco-terrorists. No harm, no fowl.
