The main reason we brand cows is if they get stolen, or get loose, ranchers know which cows are theirs. Cows are the only way ranchers make money - therefor Id rather brand a cow then make a rancher loose his farm. and no it doesnt hurt them like you would think - their cows, theyve got tough hides - they'll be fine :)

tattos dont hurt i have alot of them ....think that's bad when i was14 i put my dad's brand on my brother's back with a hot iron!!

You're right. It must be painful. However, it can't hurt more than a poor lobster that is tossed into a pot of boiling water while it is still alive. Its good to know that Hot branding is being replaced by freeze branding which just kills hair follicles and is much less painful. I don't know if anything is being done on the lobster front to ease its pain.

This isnt a branding its a tattoo, branding is when its burnt into your skin, i think she should get one of those to see how those cows feel.
