when i was in the usmc you were to do as you was told then listen to what you are told and carrie it out to the best you can emaging we held up books to read hours at a time .when i think about it now it must be something to that when doing what you are told.

very much a b movie; looks like ww2 was filmed in california. Probably was fun to watch in some crummy times square movie theater. mcqueen and coburn teamed up, as with MAGNICIFENT 7 and GREAT ESCAPE. With nick adams (hollywood name taken from a hemingway story); his real name some eastern european thing; he was born in nepa.

I've been reading Bob Newharts book and he mentions that the heat was unbearable on this shoot and he (Bob) was trying to get "offed" early in the movie so he could take on more lucrative offers that popped up for his comedy. Eventually the studio tired of the cost overruns and stopped sending the director film stock. So that is why this movie has an abrupt and "interpret your own way" ending.
