this guy kills me...saw him in honolulu 1974 or so with ramsey lewis. is there more footage of this show around?? or other full length shows, stuff besides what i see on youtube??? i have looked on amazon and i see almost nothing in the way of video for szabo.

This is not a video to judge Gabor Szabo by. It's nice enough but near the end of Gabor's ride a lot of the stuff was pretty mainstream, attempts to reach a wider market, which I can't blame him. But for me, what makes me an absolute fan is his early work with Chico Hamilton and others, and especially his earlier albums. Love Jazz Raga, Spellbinder and Dreams, absolute classics that can stand up to any other guitarist for feel and one-of-a-kind beauty. His work with Gary McFarland was unique too

Nah, man...the bass is in the pocket RIGHT where it needs to be. He's locked with the drummer, and they're settin' up the groove for everybody else to play off of. If he added anything else to that bass line, he'd screw up the whole groove.
