Respond to this video... Define "progressed". I think pretty much every nuance of Jazz has been touched by someone somewhere. When someone like Sara touches on a style that does not stand alone in it's genre, people say that it has not "progressed". It is very easy to retrospectively critic, (c'mon 1960's) however in your case, I'm not so sure that "progression" is the best measuring stick if there is one. IF there is a measuring stick, it should be, "yea it sounds good...thanks".
THO fantastic, Sara Serpa really shows how little contemporary jazz has progressed....since the 1960s when Norwegian vocalist Karin Krog was "queen" of this particular style of singing.
As I write Sara is appearing at the Wangaratta International Jazz festival in Australia...and I couldn't get a seat!
I will be in Brooklyn to see you! Beijo e boa sorte!!!

I like this CD. She should be more well known. She is a nice addition to the Osby band too.

Praia=Beach, any beach.. So if you have a beach that's called, for instance, Malibu Beach, the translation in Portuguese would be Praia Malibu.
You're welcome...
