Karita Mattila sings "Going to Sleep" from Richard Strauss' Four Last Songs at London's Royal Opera in 2005. Antonio Pappano conducts the ROH Orchestra.
NOBODY does it better than this GORGEOUS KARITA MATTILA. I totally LOVE her in all her performances. Saw her at Carnegie Hall singing her songs of Finland about 3 yrs ago also. She is AMAZINGLY BREATHTAKING in EVERY WAY. By far the BEST of the BEST. G*d bless her forever.

Her recording of this is gorgeous. But I wonder if she had a cold or something here. It's not like her to be so off pitch.

Somewhat tremulous, but artistically marvelous and riveting!

Heard her do these live in Philly...it was better. Intonation is absolutely wretched here.
