Yep, he was offered a seven picture contract but his bonehead manager convinced him that Bond was beneath him.

Man, he looks great! He still has a strong chin, a full head of hair, and a trim build. He must be genetically gifted. I've just recently come to appreciate OHMSS for the fine, albeit off-beat, film that it is. And Lazenby made a SUPERB Bond, somewhat like what we would have had if a young, more athletic Cary Grant had played the role.

It is very nice to see that George Lazenby has a good fan base as James Bond.
-
He was a bloody good Bond. OHMSS remains one of the best Bond films of all time.
-
Wow , that James Bond. I'm certainly envious.

Actually Charade was an answer to the Bond movies with the Hitchcock irony.
North by North West is considered by many to be the Pre-Bond Bond movie that set the standard. Again where talking about Cary Grant. Charade was a Stanley Donen effort which was well done. By the way Grant was almost 60!

Grant would have KICKED ASS TOO! Just watch NOTORIOUS or CHARADE and you will see what I mean

He is still indpendently wealthy. He married rich and also invested his Money in prime real estate when it was hot. Also he was one of the few people Bruce Lee trusted in the Movie world. So much so he bacame partners in a production firm before his untimely death. You need to do more research and rely on appearances.

You hit the nail on the head with that Cary Grant remark!

He looked the most like Cary grant who was the model for the film Bond. Grant was one of Brocolli's friends who turned down the role.
-
Yes, had he of taken the contract we would have seen him as Bond in all films up to and including For Your Eyes Only (1981).

Sean Connery was the best Bond, hands down, but George Lazenby was a close second. I think he was more of what Ian Fleming wanted in a Bond. Do not get me wrong. I still think Connery was the best, but is Lazenby had continued as 007, he may have been the best ever. Add that to the fact that HIS Bond girl was Diana Rigg and any hard core 007fan is in heaven. Rigg was a close second to Ursula Andress
I thought he made a very good 007, and was extremely underrated. Despite being no Sean Connery who remains my favourite to this day, he did the character justice, and On Her Majesty's Secret Service was a great film in my opinion. It was a true honour meeting him, he was a very nice chap. =D
