  • This does not show how to paint water.

An artist is an illusionist. It is the illusion of water. The reflections actually cue the viewer's mind this is water. This series shows how the reflections in the water complete the illusion.

  • Shelly,

I hope to have more videos out this coming year. Some of the planned topics include painting mountains, trees, rocks, and possibly seascapes. Not all will fit into You Tube's format, but I will make sure my friends here always have something interesting to watch. Please check back.

  • John, unfortunately I have NO idea how to approach the mountains and it looked awful so I am starting new tonight and simply leaving out the mountains...I tried to wing it but I dont have enough experience. I will keep checking back! THANKS! Shelley

  • I have posted a short video clip on painting Mountains which you might find interesting. John

  • I am glad you remembered the big brush. Yes, it does the job when needed for sure! Bill was the consummate teacher. His philosophy of life is also outstanding today!

  • Somebody has been watching the Joy of Painting. Of course I used to watch the show myself when I was a kid, but the problem is that too many people start producing the same paintings and don't feel inclined to attempt to improve upon their technique. Shame. And the music is too loud.

  • nice painting,,,unfortunately, the music is so loud it is difficult to hear your instructions.. thanks for trying though

  • ALL Excellent videos I am watching them for the 2nd time and I am SO happy to finally know the secret to perfect water and reflection..THANK YOU so much for making this video and sharing your talent! Will let you know how it comes out!

  • "GET OUT THAT BIG BRUSH AND FIRE INTO THAT CANVAS" hehe....... him and bob ross couldnt be anymore different in personality, however you can tell bob ross really listened when bill was teaching him..... and they are both equally enjoyable to watch! your series is very instructive.. thanks
