The Sensei Movie Trailer Starring Diana Lee Inosanto, Keith David, Louis Mandylor, Tzi Ma, Mark McGraw, Michael O'Laskey, Ron Balicki, www.thesenseimovie.com. THE SENSEI takes place in the plains of Colorado during the dawn of the AIDS epidemic when it was called the gay plague. THE SENSEI is about a lonely, bullied gay teen named McClain, who is recovering from a previous suicide attempt after losing his closest friend. Meanwhile, Karen, a woman haunted by the memories of her fiance, boxer Mark Corey, returns home after a five year absence to reconnect with her conservative family, owners of a successful martial arts business. When three teenagers hospitalize McClain after a near fatal beating and are then released on bail, McClains outraged mother asks Karen to secretly teach her son to protect himself. Through the martial ways, Karen teaches McClain to rise above ignorance and prejudice. But when McClain intercedes to protect a classmate from being bullied, a chain of events occurs. McClain and Karens secret student-teacher relationship becomes the town scandal, which opens the doors to Karens own mysterious past with Mark Corey.

  • Same bullshit like Next Karate Kid.

those trailers using the epic Soundtrack from "The last Samurai" to push the atmosphere and drama.

    But this movies will suck...

  • @TheHarry1975 Amazing that you would rate a movie that you have not seen? Maybe you should watch the movie before sticking your foot in your mouth!

  • @xxxsssxxxsss me too

  • Saw it on netflix and was impressed.

  • I just saw this movie, and I must say that it was amazing. It wasn't the "gay" version of the Karate Kid, it was so much more about intolerance and acceptance. I actually felt what the main characters were feeling rather than just watching it and thinking "oh, that's sad..." Not many movies can do that for me. Anyhoo, I was impressed.

Plus, it was nice seeing that kid from 3 Ninjas again!

  • @Ronbalicki

looked like tai chi push hands to me, but i'm no expert.

funny how the cantonese version is so much more well known than the mandarin, but still not as well known as the japanese term.

  • @neomp5 No, in the empty hand sequence she was going in to Kali, Jun Fan JKD and Silat. No Tai Chi. The movie was originally called "The Sifu". For multiple reasons, her family had a Karate back ground and the simple fact that more people know the term "Sensei" over "Sifu" it just made sense to go with "The Sensei".

  • to anyone watching this thinking it's a "gay karate kid", the reason that movie was called "karate kid" is because the kid was the central character. the reason this is called "the sensei" is because the sensei is the central character, not the kid.

  • @nurktwin1960

her family runs a karate school, so "sensei" is correct. but on top of the karate and escrima techiques she teaches him, she seems to teach him some tai chi techniques as wll, so "shifu" would work too.

  • As a straight, Asian, and former martial arts student, I stumbled upon this at the store tonight. It caught my attention, first, by the attractive woman on the front, then her name, Inosanto, then its synopsis. Def enjoyed it, I'm glad my curiosity and my impulse in buying things led me to watch this. Def watching it again.
