Ummm no. I wouldn't do it that way--cant imagine the number of ppl burning and screwing up their turkey following this advice.
You have to Brine it first overnight with plenty of salt, sugar, and herbs. Then roast it under foil low and slow at 350 degrees until the temp reaches just 10 degrees shy of done, letting carryover cooking do the rest--and for the browning of the skin, you just need 15-20 minutes at the end cooking w/out foil at 500 degrees to get your turkey skin crisp and dark.
you dont have 4 hours to let the turkey cook while you watch TV but you do have a couple hours to go to a ranch and buy a live turkey!
