How would you be able to compare them? Half their specs are classified.

Leo 2A6 probably is a little bit better.

I don't see where the main guns design is from makes a difference? If Leopard 2 used an American designed gun would it be any less effective of a tank?

Anyone know if there is an updated show that come out within the past 1-2 years, which takes a in-depth look at tanks?

it's funny how people debate over which modern tank is the best while they haven't even faced each other on the battlefield and more than half the specs are classified and none of them don't know how tank warfare works

no it depends how many rockets you have and besides insurgents can just stack 3-4 at mines to achieve a mobility kill because the tank treads are the easiest part to destroy

@JimbobHarrigan1984 No insurgents can no longer knock out Western tanks with RPG, such as the M1 Abrams and Challenger II and Leopard 2A6 or 2A7 that use Chobram armour that deflects the heat of RPG's and also shatters armour piercing rounds upon impact. So your wrong, even the Russians use Kontact 5 armour protection, not as good as Chobram but efficient.

modern tanks are advanced yes, but an insurgent armed with an RPG can still knock one out.

@DREwestcoast yeah and I agree with you, either the abrams or the leopard would have been excellent for their needs.

@housekeeper25 true, but the merkava sucks for urban warfare, which is why the israelis should just of bought abrams, which they were offered.

@Justmyside I don't know, to me if you can get 3 men instead of 4 thanks to a good automatic loader, then so be it, I think this argument is just an old and tired cliche tbh, as for the merkava, from what I heard it's the best out there as far as crew comfort goes, I'd say Leopard could be at the top, but these things are hard to rate.. no doubt the abrams is good but I think Leopard and Leclerc are slightly better, but like you I can only speculate when it comes to FCS systems.
