Country Gardens - Palmer Hughes Accordion Course, Book 2, Page 33 for Accordion Accordéon Acordeón Akkordeon Akordeon Harmonika Fisarmonica Acordeão Акордеон Аккордеон Accordian

As usual my goal is to play the piece as written as accurately as I can with the exception that I am playing the dominant 7th instead of the dominant major chord. Note that the sheet music calls for alternating the dynamic level between forte and piano.

  • Thanks for your encouragement and support.

  • congratulations from your latest fan. I am 60 plus and doing likewise using Sedlon and Magnante. Areyou reading the music as you play these pieces ? Art

  • Welcome to the growing number of new accordion enthusiasts. Yes. You are very observant. I am reading the music as I play. I position the songbook just under the camera lens. I hope my videos from Palmer Hughes and US School of Music are useful to you. Good luck to you and I hope to hear from you regularly as you progress. Making videos of myself playing these early practice pieces is a good way to motivate myself to play them well enough for a live audience. You might try it yourself.

  • Leon, I am pleased to find your channel. I learned Country Gardens 55 years ago. I took lessons for a year but couldn't continue because of a transportation problem. 12 years ago, mom and I visited her hometown and saw a group of 40 accordion players give an outdoor concert. Back home, I put an ad in a local paper for anyone who wanted to play for retirement centers etc and 12 people joined. We shared sheet music and played together every week for seniors and festivals for 7 years. Fran

  • Im happy to hear that my extra effort to play accurately is rubbing off on you. The accordion is an expressive instrument, and one of the most important techniques for expression in music is dynamics (changing loudness or level). Thats why the piano won over the harpsichord. Thats why the violin is such an expressive instrument. Some advanced players on YouTube play accordion very expressively. My dream is to be like them.
