TO Chung: Helping People to Help Themselves 杜聰:助人自助 (Part 1)

Among the many awards he received, TO was honoured as one the the "Ten Most Touching Persons" in 2005 and "Ten Most Inspiring Persons Awards" in 2004. What earned him these titles is his dedication to AIDS-impacted children in China, a cause which he has served tirelessly ever since 2002. He has developed a sustainable programme which sponsors the education and psychological care for 8,000 children. Viewed by many as a best practice model of its kind, the programme has become the largest non-government effort focussing on children impacted by AIDS in China. He also organizes exhibitions, gives talks and launches media campaigns to raise public awareness.

杜聰曾被選為"2005年感動中國十大人物"及"2004年十大難忘人物"。他得到這些殊榮是因為他自2002年開始，為中國大陸受愛滋病影響的孩 子作出了極大的貢獻。他發起了一套贊助孩子教育及提供心理援助的可持續計劃，惠及8000位兒童。同類計劃中，這個模式被視為是最為有效的，已成為國內最 大型的非政府項目，援助受愛滋病影響的孩子。他亦時常為提高公眾意識而籌辦展覽、演講及推行媒體運動。
