Frozen Hogs

Hogs are routinely shipped from Canada to this midwest slaughterhouse in windchills as low as 70 degrees below zero. Many hogs become frozen solid in transport and have to be ripped with chains from truck walls.

@edifieryou 70 below, Yes it can get 70 below this is windchill, just having the wind blow when you are standing outside can get to 30 below or colder now imagine the wind blowing at you at 100km/hr.

@BackstretchRunner - I totally agree with you, as sad as it it they are the lucky ones. Also does not the bible say "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"! Pigs (and all animals) feel pain, emotion, stress, loss, depression, they eat, drink have bladders, kidneys etc and humans treat them like crap. I think that God would be totally sad :(

Yes, the windchill while they are being TRANSPORTED reaches that. I would think that any animal would have severe problems starting at -30. Also, the write up for this videos says transported from Canada where it can easily reach -50 in high elevations.

When they ship hogs in that cold of weather the close up the sides of the trailer and yet leave enough vents on the trailer to keep fresh air to the hogs. Drivers moniter the trailers to make sur that it is not to hot or cold in there. I know this for a fact because i am a hog farmer.
