  • Reason is actually good if you want to gain general knowledge of how all the different outboard units and effects works. It's an inexpensive way of setting up a studio for music compositions

  • You should always have reason around. The minute you limit yourself to just that one program you will have eliminated yourself from a very competitive edge.

  • 9th wonder uses fl

  • Personally, it works for me to use Logic as an audio sequencer/arranger rather than my main composition tool.

I write and perform most of my software instrument parts in Reason, then export them and make them Apple Loops and drop them into Logic for editing, arranging and mixing.

Reason has some super powerful sound synthesis tools and Logic is a fully functional DAW with one of the most awesome samplers I've ever used (EXS24)...Used together, they are hard to beat....

  • when record from propellerhead comes out, you probably won't need it anymore :D

  • logic is a complete system so on average you're correct, but more options doesn't necessarily mean better. it also depends on your needs, if you're really into the midi stuff, reason is great. if you go all the way hardcore multitracking audio you should go for pro tools. different programs, different decisions, like the difference between a telecaster or a les paul.

  • well, comparing these programs on average, you're correct. but that doesn't imply that you shouldn't use reason anymore. it;s like comparing biking to rollerskating, it's more limited, and that can be great because you make different dicisions. logic pro is really a huge programm with dozens and dozens of (sub-)menus and reason is pretty basic and not really suitable for high def mixing, but i like the concept of sampling your tracks (as .rex) and it doesn't kill your cpu as logic could do.

  • wow! interesting... i have this program from when i used to use a PC, but i now have logic pro in a mac and was told i don't really need this. any opinions on that?

  • does cubase have good sounds like reason or is reason better

  • you cant compare cubase to a program like reason or fruity loops. they are two different complete type programs. i will say that reason is better than fruity loops in my 8 years experience of producing
