@Serenity3 Maine is located approximately halfway between the north pole and the equator, with 45 degrees North Latitude being about where Bangor, ME is located. We are 80 miles south of that line. Our weather is influenced by thed atlantic coast, white mountains, and converging arctic and tropical air masses. Tree species indicators for similiar understory plants would be sugar maple, red maple, white birch, gray birch, balsam fir, white pine, eastern hemlock, and tamarack. Hope this helps!

@Kahur2007This far north, there is less diversity in flora as well as fauna. As a result there are fewer than twelve plants that can kill you, and most of them (all but two) taste horrible. Fear of wild plants is due to a lack of connection and familiarity with them and with what is really going on outside. In survival, if you are suffering, it is your skills that are lacking. Wild plants have far more phyto chemicals than the monoculture of mass prduced cultivars wich = more nutrients.
