This is the most istructional video I have ever seen of lions on a kill (I study lions, and keep captive ones). It shows a wide range of behaviors observed near a kill. It shows how cats use their back teeth to do most of the work of eating. And it is not a real gory video as most kill videos are. Highly recommended!

amazing video! I watch africam all the time, i've only seen lions once -a pride of lionessess at night. how come you didn't get the actual kill, just the 'eating' bit? just curious - it's still a great vid :)

Glad you appreciate it. From what I understand, the kill took place off camera or when there was nobody operating the camera. I think it might have happened at night, I just don't exactly remember. I do not think there is any video of the actual kill happening, but I believe I remember reading that there was a lot of noise as it took place.

I think I remember that the actual kill took place off camera at night, if I remember right. There were reports of lots of noise and then in the daylight the lions dragged the carcass out where it is in front of the camera.
