For those critics who read this video as an 'attack', or commentary on one specific religious/political/ideological group, a message: look deeper.
For those who accuse this video of condemning one entire population, a question: if this had been a story about an abusive dog owner, would you be suggesting I was condemning ALL dog owners? No. So don't be facile — stories don't have to represent every single experience. This video specifically addresses the folks who do go through events similar to this — and I've had literally 100s of messages saying, 'This was/is my experience!' — are they all 'wrong'? Just in case they aren't, this video stands for them.

I almost cried, my experience has been so similar to this... and i still get that feeling of "otherness" from my family, even though i know they still accept me.
And of course youtube never disappoints. You look at the comments and a bunch of faceless strangers are fighting with one another, trying to tell each other how to build the dresser their way.
No, man. We are not criticizing your manual. I respect each religion, and the people adhering it. Even though I do not follow any one myself. What this video is saying is that people should not try to talk to other people because of their manual and tell them that theirs is wrong. I have muslim friends myself and I never was talked into any religion by them, which I respect.
The best Muslims are the ones who do not follow Islam to the letter. The very best only take what is good and consciously reject what is bad. That is what we do as Muslim Humanists. This was a great video, it makes a lot of sense. Those of us who come from religions that have the believer-disbeliever paradigm can especially appreciate what is being said.
Thanks for sharing this smashzaxlebax. It's surprising that some people still refuse to believe this happens all the time — and that if it does, then the child's in the wrong for acting 'selfishly'.

Good to know these things are shared in life.
