I recommend TrueCrypt or some other stealth encryption for all your personal info, which lets a thief see just a few ordinary unencrypted files. You should definitely have a secure backup, perhaps on a CD in a safety deposit box or home safe.
Keep in mind that there are many different formats for DMR files, and if you have more than one MD, they will probably have different formats.
Also, keep in mind that you should update them (all?) on a regular basis, perhaps every couple of visits.

Not a bad idea...... BUT you might want to be careful because if they get wet you could lose your stuff!

Great tip, but if you loose your keys, someone has all your medical records.. perhaps some encryption should be recommended, or the drive should be stored somewehre a bit safer..

Good point -- I meant to make it -- I'll blog about some new thumb drives that come with built-in encryption.
