American soprano Leontyne Price sings Deh Vieni Non Tardar from Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart. If there is any issue with this being up I will gladly take it down immediately.

  • Oh wow, stunning! I love when she lightens her tone like this. There's nothing antithetical about having a big spinto voice and singing this music with style and elegance.

  • Agreed! I love the lighter tone. When I first listened to the first line, I almost didn't believe it was her. Lol. After that, it's pretty hard to mistake voices like this. They're pretty special. ;)

  • @vkaminsky 1968, I believe.

  • @pharrisbaritone I know, I didn't believe it at first, but I have her Leontyne Price sings Mozart CD and this is absolutely the recording. Its such a huge difference.

  • @pharrisbaritone This is from "Leontyne Price Sings Mozart Concert and Operatic Arias. RCA Red Seal, Kurt Adler conducting. Recorded in 1968.

  • You, my friend, are wrong. Listen very closely to the recitave, the phrasing and occasional moments of huskiness are quintessential Price. The *slight* off pitch white note on Non in the first phrase of the aria is also very Price like. It may be difficult to recognize because she's singing it SO traditional and cut down. But it is her.

  • Anyone know what year this was recorded?
