The Baldwin Yacht Club was established in Old Saybrook, CT in 1946. It was named after Governor turned Senator Raymond Baldwin. The club burgee is white with a Baldwin Apple on it. Primarily a club full of sailboats, it actually started as a powerboat club. Many sailors now sport trawlers. BYC has evolved into a family oriented on the water club "sans clubhouse". You need a boat to get to the events. Many of our cruisers have dual memberships with other clubs. Known for its busy social calendar, the club has events in Mystic, skiing in New England, two week cruises up Naragansett Bay, Cape Cod Bay, Buzzards Bay, Nantucket Sound and Long Island Sound. Spring Dance, Commissioning Weekend at Mystic Seaport for over 40 years, Labor Day Weekend at Dodson's Boatyard in Stonington. Point to Point Racing. To obtain membership, one must attend three on the water events, within two years, have two sponsors and meet with the Club Officers. We require participation on the Social Committee planning events.
