  • Remote collars are a very powerful tool. Used properly I can teach a dog faster with a remote collar than any other way, with far less stress on the dog. Used improperly it can be totally ineffective and at worst cruel. If you want to remote collar train find a professional in your area that can work with you, do not try to figure that out by yourself. Use the "find a professional" tab at canineprofessionalsdotcom to find a qualified remote collar trainer near you.

  • My Shiba will not come on command either she listens to sit and lay down working on roll over but I'm kinda having trouble on stay but yes she won't listen to come or her name I mean she know her name but when i say come Bella she just sits n stare at me. Anything that can help?

  • @casspozos - a dog that can't be caught can't be taught. Put dog on a long, light leash (maybe paracord?) then give it a little tug to start it moving.

  • in texas you say? i live in california & my shiba absolutely will not come on command when she's outside. i'd be willing to take a road trip w/ her if i could figure out some way to get her to come on command. i got her through her 'trying to dominate me' phase very well, but she gives me the cat treatment (the 'i can't hear you and am not going to look at you so i don't have to listen' thing) when i tell her to come outside.

  • @coralaisly - I am sure we can find you a good remote collar trainer in your area, please tell me what part of CA you are in and I will see who I know around there.

  • Hey^^ great work wif your client's dog. I ordered a Shiba inu and its coming this Jan. But i live in Singapore so the dog when arrived at Singapore must be at least 3 month): so i read a lot of information about the Shiba inu and it says that the Shiba inu is aggresive. So is 3 months too late for the shiba inu to socialize? Pls reply me asap^^ thx....

  • The main thing is that the dog is socialized - gotten around other dogs, other people, children, riding in vehicles. This needs to happen while the dog is young. Key socialization weeks are from birth to 16 weeks old. Be sure your breeder tells you in detail about their socialization program, what they do BEFORE the dog ever comes to live with you.
