  • would you say that building an ak is harder than builder an ar?

  • @Patriot5401 I'm not sure it's harder, but it's more work and takes more tooling.

  • So you would have to remove the barrel again to be able to rivet the trunnion into the receiver correct?

  • @rkizzle Correct.

  • yah what's the deal with the gas port hole- i see you have it drilled slanted which i heard was better for these but then i've heard about some vertically drilled holes- are those for ARs?

  • @1x93cm This is a factory chrome lined Romanian barrel and an Egyptian kit. The gas port was drilled by the factory, not me. The AKM used a 45 degree gas block. The AK-74 used a 90 degree gas block which had the gas port drilled perpendicular to the bore. The orientation of the hole is entirely dependent on the design of the gas block being mated to the barrel. The 90 degree gas block showed up to correct bullet shear that was associated with the higher velocity 5.45 round of the AK-74.

  • Where did you guys get the press equipment? What is it called, if I were to look for stuff like that?

  • I have a virgin barrel that I am building on how do I know how deep to push the front trunion on and how do I drill the gas port hole?

  • 1) Is it possible that the barrel may move inside the trunnion while pressing the sight block, gas tube, etc. onto the barrel? I was thinking this could alter headspace if it happens.

    2) I see in this build, the trunnion is already on the barrel. Does it matter if this is done prior to riveting the trunnion into the reciever?

  • my rear sight block has a crack on the barrel band. it seems the pin is keeping the rear sight base from moving. can i weld the crack or just leave well enough alone? it has gone through 700 rounds and is still working fine with no further damage.

  • does anyone sell a gas block/ front sight for the ak 47?

  • You have great videos. Do you rivet the front trunnion first or do you rivet it to the receiver after the barrel is installed? Ive seen both in your videos.

  • Please help where can i find a type three barrel

  • @Patriot5401 aks are built ars are assembled.

  • Lol that's made in Egypt 1:42
