In May of 2008, I gathered up enough money to head out to the Harvard Library to see their collection of Christiana's papers.
I wrote in my journal, "Sitting in the basement of the library I wondered what meaning could I draw from all these boxes...her life and her writings. There was so much that shock set in like a sudden overwhelming sadness. It seemed all that was left. A woman hidden in boxes, hidden in the basement of a library, mostly unfinished."
When I returned home I continued to write about my experiences with her writings. "I realize I faced a great disappointment in that library. Even as close to her as I was, reading her words from the paper it was written on, we were still so far apart."
