I want to learn more about French Guiana but there are not much resources on the Internet or in textbooks. It is still well-known though. Big up French Guiana! =)

I'm sorry man, but we are not poor!!! Trust me, I'm brazilian and I study International Relations and I don't see another country that your people pay 40% of your salary every month to your country... We are not poor man, we are victims of a sistem perfect that keep the richs rich and make our change status difficult... Our coutry never gonna be poor, but it should think for in your people... this's my opinion...

Answer to rafaelsouzasp79 (page 6) Your ignorance is appalling, and jealousy... pathetic!
The inhabitants of Guiana voted democratically to stay French in 1946 because they knew pretty well they would become as poor as the rest of South America if they chose independence. So vive la Guyane française et notre suberpe Ariane !!!

Answer to Lopezdecastilla: I thought there were no dictators left in South America! - Are you related with late general Franco by any chance, and do you intend to assault French Guiana with home made machetes, hombre salvaje de un pais primitivo?...

Sorry Mister "TheLiberalKnight", but French Guiana is NOT a colony, but a French overseas département just like Guadeloupe and Martinique in the West Indies or Reunion Island in the Indian ocean, whose citizens chose to remain French following a referendum held in 1946 and therefore enjoying the same rights as in mainland France so I wish any "colony" around the world would be as poor and oppressed as they are... not to mention French Polynesia in the Pacific ocean...

Guiana is by far the richest colony France now owns. However, it's other colonies are pretty poor economically. Britain has less rich colonies but more of them. So it all balances out really.

Carla Bruni is especially currently the 1st French Lady because she is the wife of the French President ^^

who come there because they hope to have a better life than in their country because it's a young country which begins grow up and where there is a lot of jobs. I say that because I was born and I live in this country.I'm proud to be french, guianese, european, south american and I haven't the feeling to live in a colony or in the slavery. For ignorants go back in your encyclopedia or books!
