Billy Boyo - Billy Boyo On The Go.

Real Name: Billy Theophilus Rowe
Profile: Billy Boyo, born on September 21st, 1969 in Kingston, was a teenage star of pre-digital dancehall. In 1981, being just 12 years old, he was discovered by the legendary producer Henry "Junjo" Lawes and also became part of his Volcano Soundsystem. Junjo recorded an album with him and another young deejay, Little Harry, entitled "DJ Clash Volume 2" and released through Greensleeves Records. In 1983 Boyo went to London and recorded another album for the Silver Camel label, but it didn't get released until 2003, when it saw the light entitled "Zim Zim" on the Silver Kamel Audio re-issue imprint.

Billy Boyo was rather a live deejay than a recording artist. After the digital era set in, it became quite around him, and he never achieved any kind of comeback. On October 29th, 2000, he died of a brain tumor.

a lot of the dj's during this transitional era between the demise of late 70's roots style and the digital explosion did have similar styles on more than one occasion. Put this next to Yellowman's "body move" and the cadence is almost exactly similar. But Yellow was the undisputed king of this time and all DJ recognize dat! (he actually would shout out Boyo and many other of his contemporaries and friends all the time)

@clanccy ey ey in many many tunes from this era, in the time of the "solid gold posse" and the "on the go" tunes like john wayne on the go, lickle harry on the go bad like rambo, zorro, no play bingo me play domino, inna me house me have a stereo etc.. toronto was almost all of the time mentioned!! and true mostly as the capital of canada!? well still,, it's the reggaecapital of canada right or not?! haha
