Jan Bertelsen's first symphony, op. 45 "Tabula Rasa" for symphonic wind ensemble, 1st movement "In Fide et Justitia Fortitudo". Composed and dedicated to my native hometown Drammen for the 200th year anniversary and celebration of this beautiful city in southeast Norway in 2011. The attached video is a private and no public domain recording with MIDI-sounds from FINALE 2009 (with Garritan orchestral library midi). The pictures in my video are mainly from my private collection of pictures (except 4 pictures from the Windows XP 'My pictures' library. The first performance of this movement took place in Drammens Theater at Sunday the 21th of November 2010 with Drammen Konsertorkester (DKO) under Rune Bergmann's baton for an audience about approximately 300 people. See the following link for the reviews and critics of the first performance: "http://dt.no/kultur/stoltere-blir-man-ikke-1.5830221". The symphony is still "under construction", and when completed it will be in 4 movements and about 45 minutes in duration. The score is vast and powerful, asking for a large symphonic wind ensemble including a full double-reed section (two oboes, cor anglais, heckelphone or bass oboe, two bassoons and contrabassoon), contrabass clarinet, off stage horn, piano, harp, celesta, tubular bells, glockenspiel, crotales, vibraphone, marimba, 4 timpanies, tam-tam and regular percussion. The work will be completed during the summer of 2011, and the premiere of the complete symphony is scheduled to be in october or november 2011.
