Carolyn Porco, leader of the Cassini Imaging Team (http://ciclops.org), movingly describes `the greatest story ever told', the evolution of the universe and life, our ultimate destiny among the stars, and ends with a call for celebration of the fruits of scientific inquiry.

  • Hey Sunnymom, no she didn't say any of that. She said that most adults already have their minds made up so if they believed the religious fairy tales from childhood than they will continue to believe them. It's with the children that we have to teach the facts so they can make up their own minds. A life of science and knowledge has much meaning and consequence, a life of religious ignorance and suppression is much more perilous.

  • Carloyn says here what I've thought for years. It's an engaging and uplifting thought that perhaps one day, I'll be a sunbeam on someone else's planet.

Well said Carolyn, you're one of the good human beings that inhabit this Earth.

  • It is dangerous, but real and beautiful. Ignorance and all forms of mental illness are the enemies.

  • LOL!

  • no its zazaza zazaza zazaaaaa!!!!

  • ZzzZzzzzzZzzzz....

  • Did she just say that she doesn't believe that adults can be converted to her religon, so the hope lies in the early indoctrination of their children??? And evolutionists say that believers in a creator are dangerous. Hmmm...Molding young minds to believe they are star dust without meaning or consequence is a perilous agenda, especially for those who the New Agers would like to dispose of. Anybody read the Rainbow Swastika?????

  • 1996 Pope John Paul II:

"Today, almost half a century after the publication of the encyclical [pope pius XII "humani generic" 1950], new knowledge has led to the recognition of the theory of evolution as more than a hypothesis... The convergence, neither sought nor fabricated, of the results of work that was conducted independently is in itself a significant argument in favor of this theory."

a clear papal admission that evolution is real and bible stories of creation are fairytales.
