PMMP interview

Translation made my FINNmuse, thanks a lot!

Paula: Pmmp was created in 2002, summer. We started workin with Jori in the autumn, our producer. We started to make our first album and worked on it from autumn 2002 to 2003 spring and in the summer we released our first single, Rusketusraidat. We were on a R-kioski commercial back then and.. Thats how it started. We started doing gigs in 2003 autumn. In the august we really started our gig round up and stayed on the road for a year and a half with our first album.

Mira: Leskiäidin tyttäret. We planned it for a very long time and during the summer time we finished it.

Paula: Yeah, we planned it for a longer time than any of our previous albums, but actually recorded it in a shorter period of time. When we started to work the working process was shorter.

Mira: We had 18 gigs a month in the summer and right from the gig round up we went to the studio, sang and went back to sing at gigs. The summer went singing.

Paula: Yeah, and the lyrics were born in a void, in the tour bus and hotels. On the road basically. We didnt manage to stay at home even in the spring. But we had free time in May and thats when we actually started to work on Leskiäidin tyttäret album, went to the studio for the first time and.. We of course had some material ready but hadnt recorded anything yet.

Mira: Leskiäidin tyttäret is like our previous albums in a sense that the lyrics concentrate on a variety of issues instead of just relationships or anything like that. We make a journey through different themes.

Paula: Henkilökohtaisesti was a song that.. Mira wished we had a song like our Joutsenet, a bit slower and would make an impact. Would make you feel something right away or.. (turns to Mira) I cant remember what you said.

Mira: I wheelded something. We got the demo and started driving to Helsinki from our studio. (turns to Paula) It didnt take long when you wrote it.

Paula: I recall receiving the demo and.. We got to listen to it for a few days and we were.. And I guess the lyrics were done in a period of a few days. It was a song that didnt take long. Some lyrics are like that. After we got the story idea we.. I think I was writing it in Koff-park and in the car!

Mira: Mhhm

Mira: Kesäkaverit was the last song we recorded. It left a good taste in the mouth and we went home thinking yes, theres a good album coming out.

Paula: We have one song in the album that was supposed to be added in our previous one but it didnt feel fitting back then. So its on this one. The song Tässä elämä on was on the works during Kovemmat kädet but.. It never got complete lyrics and we were looking for the right sound and didnt quite know what to do with it. So now we did it.
