The video by john hubbard from where this clip came changed my life. He proposes at the end a metaphor; that this process is an abstraction for all life. It took me a long time to get it. I watched the video hundreds of times and explored fractals, then I began to notice fractals everywhere around me in real life. I have much respect for John H. Hubbard.
I first seen pics of the m-set around 1996 on a Channel4 doc about tripping.. at the time it blew my mind (I was caned at the time). Now it just looks like a cheap rave slide show

Hours and hours on a supercomputer? Wow, that's a bit out of date. Xaos can render these animations in realtime on a PC.
