Played through my Randall V2 using my Dean ML 79 with a DiMarzio X2N pickup. Cab was my Fender MetalHead 4x12 loaded in an X pattern. Miked them individually then layered them with no Post EQ or leveling done to them. Thought this was a good comparison between the two. Mic was a Shure SM 57.

  • Hey, dragonguitarist36.. did you just combine (doubletrack) the last sample? It would've been cooler if you mic'ed both speakers.

But still, this is a very useful video, thanks.

  • I would have, but I currently only own one mic.

  • I would have bet on k100, but in this sound test I find Eminence better. By the way it's a very useful video! Thanx for uploading it!

  • No problem man! I will probably do one with clean and distortion at a higher volume when and IF I get the chance in the near future.

  • i think they both sound like shit compared to each other. the double track sounds much better because it gets balanced although it needed to be panned more seperated or something. it had tone because of the eminence and it had presence and high frequencies from the celestion.

  • @dashizzler I agree 100%, lots of variables to consider. Good post

  • Hey, thanks for taking the time to record and post this man. Really appreciate folks like you helping others shop for gear.

  • damn spikey pericey celestions! boo

  • I love how everybody says one or the other SUCKS. The tone is subjective to the user, and more importantly to individual situations, like recording, live and mic'ed up live. Also what matters alot is your guitar, the strings VOLUME, amp watts, tubes, or if it's a solid state amp and so on. You can't judge a speaker on this test alone. Celestions are good speakers, so are the Eminece. And yes, Celestions are pricey, but it's all worth what you pay for it. Also, cabinets do matter, alot.

  • @emoboi311 of course it sucked mg is a moddeling amp roocky

  • @laiholapso too high and edgy for me..peavey is too trebley its ridiculous..marshalls are just so basic for me..i had a marshall mg100 that thing sucked ass..it only costed 360 because the marshall name

  • @emoboi311 do you really think marshall boxes provide that high tone really?

  • @laiholapso marshalls fucking suck.im not saying those speakers suck i'm just seeing and explaining how its a rip off...i know its a damn box thats my point..marshalls have too high tone for me..i always loved bass and bass chords on my lead guitar with low octaves for more chunks

  • @emoboi311 let me start with saying that 85% of all guitarists use marshall, your saying all of them are overrated. and mesaboogie is so dear and overrated that 9 out of ten people dont buy them. anyway mesa uses normal celestion greenbacks and vintage 30's but they do it for 4x the prices of people like engl so people like you think their good because there dear. anyway a cabinet is just an emty box its the speakers that make the diffrence mesa cant be so much better if they use normal speakers
