Do they teach how to read a candlestick chart in college?

@virginiatechfanx
Which country? Which college? What course? It might be better to ask them! :-) I don't know of any which do though.

so does the tail at the bottom of the candle represent the lowest the price dropped to during that period?

@byen8
Hi byen8,
Yeah... the low point of the lower candle tail indicates the lowest price traded during the candle time period. The high point of the upper tail indicates the highest price.
Cheers,
YTC

Great videos, subscribed! One question: can you direct me to the place to understand the OHLC on the candlesticks? I thought stocks prices only Open & Close at the beginning of the day and the end of the day. Please help!!!

Hi,
Stocks do only open and close once each day. However they move constantly throughout the day. For chart display we can break the whole day into whatever periods of time we wish. For example 5 minute bars where each bar represents 5 minutes of price movement, with the open being the first price in that 5 min block, the high being the highest price, low being the lowest price and close being the last price in that 5 mins. Then the next bar opens & starts again for 5 more mins.
