Part two. On the trip, we got delayed by a Canadian Pacific, northbound, mixed freight. This video was taken between Lake Forest and Deerfield, then again between Golf, and Morton Grove.
Although Metra trains share the same tracks with freight trains, it seems as if the former doesn't experience delays as much as the latter does. For instance, I live by the UP-W Metra tracks, and every weekday, for example here, freight trains are few and far between during the hours when Metra trains run rampant. And when I went to a library next to NS/MetraSWS tracks on city's S Side, signal lights were red and freight trains waited, but Metra trains zoomed right past.
