From Forbidden Planet - this time, it stops inside the disintegration fence and gets shot with lots of heavy, medium and light disintegration blasters, but it still survives and kills 3 people.

  • It's really amazing how nightmarish that monster was despite being essentially a cartoon.

  • I wish I had a caulking gun that shot lasers.

  • @johnnykool You can.

    1) Get a caulking gun

    2) Buy a laser from O-Like

    3) Put the laser inside the caulking gun

    4) ???

    5) PROFIT!

  • Creating real suspense and tension in movies is a rare art. This film did it so well - you felt the tension just as if you were standing there waiting for an invisible monster you couldn't kill to show up. I just hope if they remake it they can build that same kind of suspense.

  • " My Poor Krell ! " That line always makes me giggle. The Krell shafts were all done by Disney, and that big light bulb thing going up and down freaked me out because when I was 6 years old when this movie came out, we had a round light bulb night light in the kitchen that looked just like it.

  • Yep this has always been scary for me, and on the big screen it is even better. It is the sound of the ID roaring that also makes it scary plus the Krell music. The ID kinda also looks like the cartoon Tazmainan Devil. If they ever make a remake I wonder what that would be like ?

  • @TheTank1110 Yes, that was it. The script writer's turned up the fence power on page 93.

  • can someone explain why exactly it didnt get stopped the 1st time the fence was up, and why it got stopped the 2nd time? did they trn up the power or somthing?

  • @maureenOWW I actually saw a little bit of behind the scenes, i think it was only like the 70's that the monster actually had that ghoastly moan, before it was the roar of a lion that which represented its voice.

  • This film is half a centuiy old and the Id Monster is still probably the most disturbingly effective use of audio and visual special effects in any sci-fi movie. Only Alien comes close. This must have scared the krell out of people in 1956. I wonder how many actually left the theatre / soiled themselves? Admit it if you did.

  • lol!! at 3:18 the guy screamed in the communicator but the guy was right in front of him!
