  • @OneShotStop229 Competition is not real? A street fight or a sport fight are both "real", aren't they? I think the main question is whether or not it works on a resisting opponent, anyway. There are no perfect techniques, but if a technique can be effective in live rolling, then surely it has some utility. Jean Jacques Machado features this technique in one of his books by the way.

  • well oneshot, I'm not saying I'm the best at all but i have trained and competed for over 10 years and i know that technique would not work on the street or in a sport situation. your looking for your opponent to either get a take down on you or tap you out or have him punch your face in.

  • @minator3 This is not a technique for a real situation. This is a competition move. There are techniques taught for either scenario, and anyone with more than a month of instruction in martial arts knows that.

  • I think grabbing the gi pants, instead of just placing the hand on the leg will solve the problem of him stepping back.

  • Nah I jus recently saw this at a comp my friend whos is a purple belt pulled it off with 10 secs to go ....crowd went nuts lol

  • yea I'm not buying that that will work in a real situation

  • @aridavidpaul I agree. That looks like it's missing something.

  • Why wouldn't he just step his left foot back?
