@kimmolind I've long had the idea that nothing in the world has changed. Maybe just the scale and speed that it happens. The dirty, grimy stuff that movies and music comment on will always be relevant because it's written by people who have seen it. How they comment changes however, just like the scale which it all happens on. That's my take on it.

It is disgusting, but that's the whole point.
It's commentary about how a huge, far-reaching corporation, where it has no limits or ethics in any way, not even from competition, could attempt to manipulate people like this. Of course, this is taken to a huge extreme, but then again, in the RoboCop universe, OCP was an extreme corporation trying to essentially destroy Detroit for New Delta City.
Perhaps you should read about "Omni Consumer Products" on Wikipedia to understand the commentary.
