Coil winder for cardboard bobbins. Counter is inspired by Bob Boyce, use of drill by Keith Turtle. This is what it is like the first time getting the kinks out...

  • There is no external power for the switch or calculator. Two wires are added to the "=" button, and these wires are attached to the microswitch or reed (magnetic) switch. Just take a calculator and enter 1 + 1 and think about having the "=" button wired to the coil counter switch. When you start winding, the switch starts pressing "=" on the calculator to add a 1 to the total, counting up. Be sure to get a fast calculator. I can press the button faster than this one can add ! Thanks

  • damn you and your winding jig I just spent the last hour watching SRV videos !!

  • you are holding the wire too close to the spool .. if you hold it 6 feet away or more it would guide itself on the spool

  • you can strighten up your used wire by twisting a length of it before you start winding. your counter intriges me are you adding a 5v input to one through the microswitch? external power? cool vidio .

  • That's awexome man! I love the use of the calculator but I think the footpedal control is the way to go so you have two hands free to guide the wire and keep it up against the last winding on the bobbin.
